Created for the UK search engine spotjockey.co.uk, PPCPortal is a search engine that allows sites to bid for keywords. Sites can be added for free, then they are able to upgrade to silver by adding a link back via a button. Sites can also be upgraded to gold, gold sites are able to bid on keywords and also upload a logo to be shown whenever their site shows in search results or on the directory pages. Gold sites can credit their accounts via depositing money into their account or by adding a search box to their site, and each search made from their site will earn the site owner 0.02 (variable).

The RecFind-class performs a full-text search on every file in every subdirectory and returns and array of all files containing the query-word. It uses a recursive search for resolving the subdirectory, therefore it's very fast. It doesn't use indexing, but it's very easy to install and use.

mnoGoSearch is a full-featured free search engine software for intranet and internet servers. mnoGoSearch has number of unique features, which makes it appropriative for a wide range of application from search within your site to specialized search system such as cooking recipes or newspaper search, ftp archive search, news articles search, etc. mnoGoSearch consists of two parts. The first is an indexing mechanism (indexer) that walks through HTTP, FTP, NEWS servers or local files, recursively grabbing all the documents and storing meta-data about that documents in a SQL database. After every document is referenced by its corresponding URL, meta-data which collected by indexer are used later in a search process. The search is performed via Web interface. C CGI, PHP and Perl search front ends are included.
