Four-state image buttons -- with no multiple images, no layers, and no JavaScript? Darned close! Plug in a simple style script, attach a few mouse events to an image (or images), and bang -- instant four-action buttons even most power scripters would sweat to do. Easy sailing, even for newcomers.

thesitewizard Image Rollover JavaScript
This script (and the explanatory text) allows you to create buttons and images that change when your visitors' mouse cursors hover over them. It is useful for buttons that automatically depress and pop-up, menus and other image tricks.

JSFX Multimedia Rollovers
Make your image rollovers much more dynamic by using the Microsoft Transition Filters built into Internet Explorer on the Windows platform. Using this script, visitors with I.E. 4+ will see a very dynamic-animated image rollover. In all other browsers the script degrades to a simple image swap. The low bandwidth of an image swap with the high impact of a Flash animation (without using Flash).

Pop-up image Script
Turn regular images into depressible, pop-up buttons! This script creates the illusion of an elevated image by applying a shadow and shifting the image to the up and left. When the user holds down the mouse, the shadow is deleted, and the image shifted back to its usual position...just like a button!
